The Lit Salon is hosted by author and journalist Michelle Young, featuring candlelit and fireside conversations with award-winning authors at the release of their latest books.

Guests will be welcomed with a specialty cocktail inspired by the book and a musical performance will open and close each event, followed by an author conversation, book signing, and mingling over drinks.

Maison Berkshires

The Lit Salon now takes place in Barrington Hall int the Berkshires. It formerly took place in the parlor of Maison Brooklyn, an 1890s townhouse that was lovingly restored and modernized by Michelle Young and Augustin Pasquet with re-ad architecture.

The home was a finalist for the 2023 NYCxDESIGN award’s House Renovation category. Together, Michelle and Augustin run Maison Brooklyn, a real estate rental and property management company specializing in historic homes.

Books & Cake

At Books & Cake, they sell—drumroll please--books and cake, because we love them both. (They sell notebooks and puzzles and greeting cards and games, too.) Store owners Julie Sternberg and Eve Yohalem are authors who have written twelve books between them and read way too many to count. They love nothing more than talking books, which is why they hosted the Book Dreams podcast for more than three years. Please stop by to talk about books and enjoy a delicious slice of cake in person!

The Mount, Edith Wharton Cultural Center

Inspired by Edith Wharton’s life and work, The Mount brings together history, literature, and nature to spark ideas, creativity, connections, and cultural experiences. Located in Lenox, Massachusetts, The Mount was the country estate Wharton designed and built in 1902, and today serves as a museum and cultural center offering author talks, writer residencies, jazz events, art exhibitions, and family programs.
